About Noosa Golf Club 

Nestled on the northern end of the stunning Sunshine Coast, Noosa Golf Club is a par-72, 18-hole championship course renowned for its natural beauty, strong membership, and commitment to continual improvement. 

The Club is entering an exciting period of transformation through a major masterplan redevelopment, including: 

  • Reconstruction of greens complexes and conversion from 328 Couch to TifEagle putting surfaces 
  • Bunker redevelopment incorporating DuraCrumb, EcoBunker, and Sir Grange Zoysia 
  • Installation of Sir Grange Zoysia to tee and green surrounds. 
  • A comprehensive maintenance facility upgrades which is underway. 

These projects are being delivered in collaboration with Jim Norfolk & Marcus Lane of ATLAS Golf Construction, providing a rare opportunity to be involved in significant, industry-leading course works. 

The Role 

We are seeking a motivated and capable Assistant Course Superintendent to join our turf management team of 10 dedicated staff. 

This role works closely with the Course Superintendent to lead daily course maintenance operations and will assume full responsibility for the golf course, maintenance facility, and gardens in the Superintendent’s absence. 

This is a hands-on leadership position, ideally suited to someone ready to step up, refine their management skills, and play a key role in shaping a high-quality regional golf course with Top-100 aspirations. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a motivated team of staff and apprentices. 
  • Assist the Superintendent in planning and coordinating daily, weekly, and seasonal workloads. 
  • Deliver consistently high standards of course presentation for members and visitors. 
  • Execute and oversee spray programs, fertilisation, and turf health strategies. 
  • Manage irrigation systems, including scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting. 
  • Operate and maintain turf machinery and equipment to professional standards. 
  • Assist with project works associated with the club’s masterplan redevelopment. 
  • Attend and contribute to staff, management, and relevant club meetings. 
  • Uphold WHS, environmental, and reporting requirements. 
  • Assist with training and cross-training of employees. 
  • Participate in occasional weekend, on-call, or unscheduled duties as required. 

What You Need 

Essential 

  • Certificate III in Sports Turf Management (or higher) 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in golf course maintenance 
  • Current AC/DC Chemical Application Licence (or ability to obtain) 
  • Proven chemical application and spray program experience. 
  • Strong understanding of turf pests, diseases, and weed management. 
  • Competence in machinery operation and basic maintenance 
  • Solid understanding of irrigation systems 
  • Strong communication, organisation, and leadership skills 
  • Current driver’s licence and full Australian working rights 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends when required. 

Desirable 

  • Chainsaw ticket 
  • Experience with Toro Lynx irrigation systems 
  • Irrigation maintenance and repair experience 
  • Involvement in golf course construction or renovation projects 
  • Knowledge of the game of golf and presentation standards
