Construction for major upgrades at the Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park (pictured right) in Victoria have kicked off with works to be undertaken on the state-of-the-art facility’s turf pitches as part of the project.
The upgrades, being made possible through the Victorian Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program, will see works undertaken to deliver two new turf pitches (an upgrade of two existing pitches) as well as the delivery of an additional synthetic pitch, bringing the total number of usable pitches at the venue to five - three turf and two synthetic.
The new elite turf pitch, which is to be constructed adjacent to the new grandstand, will be a perched water table profile, while the other turf pitch will be a rootzone sand profile. The new synthetic pitch will be constructed and certified to FIFA standards.
As part of the major projects other upgrades include a new grandstand pavilion with change rooms and amenities, a new change facility and redeveloped car parking.
Upgrades to the Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park are expected to be completed in late 2026.
The project is one of four in the Latrobe Valley region in Gippsland and one of 16 projects across regional Victoria part of the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.
These upgrades are expected to help increase sports participation and improve the region’s capacity to host events, supporting local businesses and creating employment opportunities during the project’s delivery.
